CHILDREN & TEENS
Support along the way...
For the most part, childhood and adolescence unfold normally; the road has bumps, but in most cases, we all make it through just fine. The most strain is placed on children, youth and families during periods of major transition in the family life cycle, when normal development meets unexpected life events. Have you had to move when your child was in middle- or high school? Did someone in the family have an unanticipated or worsening illness? Is a divorce or separation on the horizon? Has school become a place your child wants to avoid?

At times like these, therapy can be a powerful, supportive and collaborative endeavor. The ultimate goal is to help young people develop self-understanding and lasting, positive changes that allow for safe movement towards young adulthood.

It might be time to reach out for help if you and your child or teenager are dealing with:
Confusion about whether the changes you’re seeing are normal and expectable, or require professional intervention and assistance
School or academic problems
Effects of divorce
Grief, loss or trauma
Recovery from child abuse
Difficulties in relating to peers or adults.
Learning or attentional problems (such as ADHD or other executive functioning difficulties)
Childhood anxiety disorder
Child or adolescent depression
Behavior problems at school or home
Management of a serious, acute, or chronic illness
Identity or acculturation issues
